Landlords take note! You can keep your tenants warm and cosy and save yourself tax by making use of an energy saving allowance.
This one-off allowance is available per property, for expenditure on energy-saving measures such as loft, wall, floor or hot water system insulation installed in residential properties.
Landlords can claim up to £1,500 tax allowance per property for expenditure of this type made before 6th April, 2015.
Exceptions include those who are claiming a rent-a-room relief or where there is commercial letting of furnished holiday accommodation.
