On Christmas jumper day this year, we decided to support a charity called Stay.
Stay provides housing and support to homeless and vulnerable young children and families in the Telford area. They recognise that housing someone only solves part of the problem and that support plays a very large part in someone’s journey to successful independent living.
To a lot of people, homelessness in the UK is not a great problem. This could be because more often than not, homelessness is hidden. It is true that some homeless people do sleep on park benches or in shop doorways in public view. Most however, will try to find some shelter and privacy away from public glare – and sometimes abuse or even assault.
At any one time Stay is supporting around 150 young people and families who have found themselves homeless and vulnerable often through no fault of their own. Stay’s job is to support them through any issues in their lives at that time, identify their goals and aspirations, equip them with the skills needed to live independently, and help them realise their full potential. Stay believes that with the right help and support every young person has the potential to thrive!!
We raised a total of £63.15 on Friday!! We are so pleased with our fund raising.
If you would like to find out more information about Stay then please visit http://www.staytelford.co.uk/ and you can keep up to date with them! If you would like to get involved in supporting Stay’s work with homeless and vulnerable young people in the area, give them a call on 01252 291904.
